Regular Maintenance of your asphalt will prevent deterioration and save
money. We recommend the following:
- Patch all potholes with new hot mix asphalt
- Fill all cracks with crackseal to prevent water penetration
- Apply a Type I Micro Slurry or Sealcoat
Capabilities
- Routing
- We use special equipment to rout out the cracks to a minimum of
one-inch wide and one-inch deep. This creates both a sufficient
reservoir, it will take repeated cycles of 100% expansion and periodic
expansion as great as 150%. Most cracks or joints in parking
lots will not move more than 75% throughout the year.
- Cleaning
- Cleaning of cracks is a two-fold operation. First the cracks
are blown clean, and then followed by a heat lance. The heat
lance is used with compressed air at a minimum of 100 psi producing
1200º of heat.
- Sealing
- Hardrives incorporates a double filling process for the
filling of the cleaned crack. Right after heat lancing, the
crack is filled with hot pour sealant at 380º to 400º depending on
the sealant used. The reservoir is filled to three-quarter full,
allowed to cool and shrink. The last step is to finish the
filling of the reservoir and crack banding process. This ensures
the proper filling level of the reservoir, especially on uneven
surfaces. Few companies follow this procedure, but we at Hardrives
feel that this system ensures a properly filled and visually appealing
crack repair.
